Project Sakhee was developed during one of the incubation sessions of Enactus Kent. The project identified a social issue in India centering around women in India and the stigma surrounding menstruation and the potential harm this stigma could cause.
Project Sakhee seeks to establish a social enterprise that will produce and sell low cost, environmentally friendly sanitary products. We aim to provide the women with business skills, a steady income and access to affordable sanitary products.

Project Sakhee has identified three key problems around women's sanitary health in India, resulting from lack of education surrounding menstruation and its accompanying stigma.

Project Sakhee aims to tackle these issues identified by:
|
PHASE 1
Partnering up with Delhi University, we plan to conduct awareness workshops in order to educate and alleviate the stigma associated with menstruation. |
PHASE 2
To provide affordable and good quality sanitary care to women within the Seelampur village. This will be done by equipping the women themselves, providing them with the skills to manufacture their own sanitary napkins |
Current Phase
Phase 1 is currently ready to be launched. In order to launch phase 2, bio-degradable raw materials must be identified and sourced, to produce the sanitary napkins, whilst ensuring their affordability. |
